GRANDMA KNOWS BEST

The few well written articles you stumble upon in your life may not be as many as we would want but they all add up to something great anyway. The interview Emily just posted up on Into the Gloss is one of the best of the best. Michelle just might be the wonder woman of our time. I absolutely love how she refers to makeup as artistry and is so open to all things different. And it absolutely made my day that her makeup artist is Andrea Helgadottir. It is so fun to see all the icelanders* out there achieving something for themselves in the tough world of fashion!

Oh yeah I am Icelandic.

AMAZEMENT VIA CRAYOLA

Due to recent wildfire's in Texas decided to raise awareness in a spectacular way! He made sculptures in shapes of flames and covered them in Crayola crayons. Over time the melted and altered due to climate change. They are such a beautiful example of good design for a good cause! I love the photos of the process, so interesting!

INSPIRATIONAL DELIRIUM

Recently I have found myself looking for something new, maybe the inevitable habit caused by a new year, new beginning.
The usual me, reading the same blogs and following the same bloggers from month to month, knowing their posts by heart, not really ready to step out of my comfort zone regarding the blogs I follow and love so dearly. I have, much to my happiness, found a couple new blogs to follow.
They are in the same direction as other blogs I follow, but it's new and fresh. I just love it when you find a blog you love so much, newfound love, and you keep clicking older entries and reading posts dated back to the birth of the blog.

A lot like A CUP OF JO. A new mama sharing the amazing things having a newborn. She shares her inspiring and fun personal experiences like this one, which cracked me up!

I haven't really figured out what type of blog this is. It's just a random chick named Poppy who features amazingly beautiful women. Usually a couple of quick questions about their day-to-day lives and then a handful of beautiful photos. And of course the occasional letter from her on some topic dear to her.

I am secretly in love with this gal! I love the colors in her top and she just beams with happiness!

The ladie behind this blog just might be a DIY queen! She has amazing photos, all drenched with color and the creativeness of her blog is outstanding! A great pick-me-up on a rainy day for sure!

I love the metallic silver Swedish Hasbeens!

Another good DIY site. I don't know who is behind it but it she/he is the sweetest craft maker! I love their cards and jotters!

Thanks for being an amazing person and thank you for reading! It means the world to me.
Love Always

reminiscent cutouts

I am scanning things like a crazy person! I found an old journal, and I was thrilled with my find. I cut out magazines and photos and glued them in and wrote somewhat meaningless words, but isn't it nice finding something reminiscent of your childhood creativity?

Edit: Sorry about the last one! I had to blur out the writing, I had a look at it after it was posted and decided it wasn't really appropriate or fortunate for me.

viking pride

So the wonderful thing about shopping online is that when all is said and done and you've got your garment in the flesh, the store/company/retailer is so proper and nice to send over seasonal catalogs. Some aren't worth opening but Urban Outfitters are damn good at what they do. They're catalogs ooze with inspiration and the jaw-dropping photos are almost to pretty to look at. Imagine my feeling of glee, happiness and joy when I saw the cover of the latest christmas catalog. IT WAS TAKEN IN ICELAND! And not only the cover but the whole editorial! My proudest moment of being viking-blood yet! And now that my semester is finally over, I decided to be the admirable and hard-working blogger I am and take some time to scan the photos and show you guys!

I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Kudos to you Icelanders out there.

the inevitable seasonal sentimental post

In amidst of finals, mid-terms, essay writing and finishing up the wonderful school year I find myself composing christmas wish-lists, scouring the holiday sales, sipping hot chocolate and syncing my iPod with seasonal songs. What I am wishing for this season is health, family, love and this particular Marc by Marc Jacobs wallet.

With the freezing weather it is so important to be good to yourself and your body. I have been following my advice these past couple of days, I went to Rope-Yoga yesterday, meditation and relaxation. I have been taking multiple hot bubble baths, eating fresh-from----the-oven cookies.  This really is a time of family, love, warmth, comfort, eating and wellbeing. I know I am going to really use this opportunity and enjoy the wonderful life we were given.

Love Always,
sorry for the most depressing, sentimental post yet. But hey it is the season to be thankful!

glamour everything

I have no self-discipline what so ever. I let myself way too many things. I was grabbing coffee the other day at a café/bookstore. It's a 3-story café/bookstore. The café on the 3rd. I walked by the magazine racks and my occasional weakness, Glamour, caught my eye. It was an old issue, from October and it consisted of my favorite thing in the world: lists. The top 10 every things of beauty. How could I resist? It has done me good though, it has over 300 beauty tips and tricks. Some that actually really work. I love quick-fixes, short-cuts all kinds of those things when it comes to beauty, so this was a godsend.

I love whipping up beauty remedies in the kitchen. Seeing what I have and mixing it together to either slather it on my face or lather it in my hair. I have gotten pretty good at knowing each ingredient and what it does. Yoghurt deep cleans, bananas moisture and sugar exfoliates. I had always limited it to some basic mixture of oatmeal, honey and yoghurt for a quick burst of radiance. So I was thrilled, giddy with joy when I saw the Top 10 DIY Beauty Recipes
I did the brown sugar+milk=body exfoliator. I had never in my right mind thought of doing something for the body. I just stuck to moisturizer. I mixed roughly half and half like it said but I found I didn't need so much milk, I liked it kind of thick. I popped into the shower and wet the are and then did what every environmentalist should do, turned it off, and rubbed it onto my skin. It felt so satisfactory. I loved it! At that point I wasn't sure it would work, but I was proved wrong. My skin is like baby skin. It is so soft and moist, I'm in heaven.

Love Always.

I'll be sure to update you on other tips I try!
